DESCRIPTIONThe grep utility searches input files for patterns. The patterns are specified by the -e option, -f option, or te pattern_list operand. OPTIONS-E Match using extended regular expressions. -F Match using fixed strings. -c Write only a count of selected lines to standard output. -e pattern_list Specify oen or more patterns to be used during the search for input. -f pattern_file Read one or more patterns from the file named by the pathname pattern_file. -i Perform pattern matching in searches without regard to case. -l Write only the names of files containing selected lines to standard output. -n Precede each output line by its line number in the file. -q Quiet. Nothing is printed to standard output, regardless of matching lines. -s Suppress the error messages written for nonexistent or unreadable files. -v Invert the search pattern. -x Consider only input lines that use all characters in the line excluding the terminating <newline> to match an entire fixed string or regular expression to be matching lines. (unimplemented) OPERANDSThe following operand is supported: pattern_list Specify one or more patterns to be used during the search for input. file A pathname of a file to be searched for the patterns.
