DESCRIPTIONThe chgrp utility sets the group ID of the file named by each file operand to the group ID specified by the group operand. If the option -R was used, the chgrp utility changes the file group ownership of directory trees. OPTIONS-R Recursively change file group IDs. -h If a file is of type symbolic link, the chgrp utility tries to change the ownership of the link. -H If the -R option is specified and a symbolic link referencing a directory is specified on the command line, chgrp changes the group ID of the directory referenced by the symbolic link and all files in the file hierarchy below it. -L If the -R option is specified and a symbolic link referencing a directory is specified on the command line or encountered during traversal of a file hierarchy, chgrp changes the group ID of the directory referenced by the symbolic link and all files in the file hierarchy below it. -P If the -R option is specified and a symbolic link referencing a directory is specified on the command line or encountered during traversal of a file hierarchy, chgrp changes the group ID of the symbolic link.
